Functional Administration
Role: Administrator
Overview
This part is for administrators who set up and maintain oPBWeb in the user interface. Everything described here is done in the browser, without access to the server or the Docker environment. How to install, configure and back up the stack is covered in Technical Administration .
As an administrator, you have all the permissions of the other roles. In addition, you see the Users and roles and Settings areas at the bottom of the activity bar, and you get extra functions in System status and Depots, such as managing the config servers.
Tasks at a glance
| Task | Where in the UI | Chapter |
|---|---|---|
| Create accounts, assign roles, disable or delete accounts | Users and roles › Users | Users and roles |
| Trace who changed what and when | Users and roles › Audit log | Audit log |
| Add opsi config servers, set their stage, maintain the CA certificate, remove config servers | Depots › + or the config server row | Config servers |
| Define defaults for new packages and meta packages | Settings | Settings for new packages |
| Assign depots to the stages Test, Staging and Production, disable or remove them | Depots › Settings | Depot management |
| Monitor services, check storage usage, clean up object storage | System status | System status |
During the initial setup, you go through these items in a fixed order. The steps are described in Initial setup .
The UI hides functions your role does not allow. The actual check, however, is done by the server: even if you open an address like /users directly, you end up back on the package list without the Administrator role.
